the risks of regional and international security, which would threaten the Arab World in 2010  (2010-01-04)

In your opinion what are the risks of regional and international security, which would threaten the Arab World in 2010?

7- Sami Jamil Jadallah

.  (US Min Outlying Isl)

Sami Jamil Jadallah The biggest threat to the Arab world is internal and not external. Not Iran, not the US, not even Israel. The problem is the Arabs themselves and of course their leadership. Failed dictatorship, irresponsible and reckless ignorant, corrupt, incompetent leadership that has no vision for the future other than its own self-serving interests and the parasitic beneficiaries of a corrupt leadership. There is ignorance, illiteracy, unemployment, lack of decent housing, and lack of decent health care, lack of decent and competent education that qualifies the new generation for the future. There is a lack of transparency and accountability. Parliaments that are nothing more than a “Yes” men and woman who dare not speak out and dare not represent the people. Representative bodies that simply gave up it duties and responsibilities to represent the interest of the people, rather they speak out and stand in line with the political leadership that and for the most part lacks any legitimacy. Trillions are wasted on stupid wars, on liberation movement that failed to liberate (PLO) and created nothing but a racketeering parasitic organization and leadership that failed at every thing and legitimized the Jewish Occupation and became a manager and a partner with the Israeli Occupation. Tens of billions wasted and arising out of criminal and terrorists acts rather than being invested in the people and their well beings (Libya). Nation with great natural wealth facing starvation because the leadership is more interested in wars, and war crimes and conflicts that killed over 2.5 millions, rather than using the billions to give the people a decent life ( Sudan). Self serving leadership proclaiming with empty slogans of Arab nationalism that collaborated and conspired against its own people and its Arab neighbors causing the death of millions, putting the country and its resources at risk moving from grand palaces only to hid in rat holes fit for rodents ( Iraq’s Saddam ). We need a leadership that can tackle the daily needs of people and their requirements for dignified living rather than concentrating on ways to add to the misery of Gaza (Egypt). The list can go on and on. Only when we look internally and see what is wrong with us, and there are plenty, then and only then we will be able to successfully tackle outside threats such as Israel. We need to give people and citizens a stake in the future, we need to give people hope in the future, and we must not keep asking the people to scarify their lives for a country that is not worth dying for. We need to give people the rights of full citizenship, and not simply “subject” of the state. We need intellectuals who are not too corrupt or too drunk to speak out for and on behalf of the people. We need a media that speak out for and on behalf of citizens rather than being a spoke person for the regime. We need teachers who teach citizenship and the rights of citizenship rather than teach us to be a bunch of “sheep” afraid to speak out and afraid of a simple and illiterate man from “mokhabarat”. We need armies that defend the nation not the regime, officers who are fit to be soldiers rather than obese and fat in belly and mind. We need to re-invent and recycle the Arab man on the street, and send him/her back as a reject and faulty at birth.

University Professor, University of Tehran  (Iran)

The spread of radical islamic fundamentalism; the question of Iraq. the first challenge can be largely avoided by the promotong the question democracy and real election which would let the moderate Islamist come into pplitical arena. the second challenge stems from the ethnic divisions within Iraq and the spread of violence led by radical arab nationalists backed by the ba`th party and radical islamic groups. the arab world fear of the Kurdish and the Shiite challenge in Iraq. a regional coo

5- Jassim Taqui

.  (Pakistan)

On the regional level, the Arabs should follow the European Union. The Arabs need to form Arab Union. On international level, the Arabs would be confronted by the economic crisis. They need to have their own unified monetary system. The European created the Euro. The Arabs should now create their Dinar.

4- Dr. maen Al-maqableh

  (Jordan)

I think that the most important threaten the arab world are wars, poverty, ignorance and dictatorship.

3- Alomary, Dair-Yosef

  (United States)

Having fake governments is the most threat to Arab countries securities. When a government is not elected by the people, this creates injustice and unpredictable affiliation. Such situation creates extremists and poverty. A government that is appointed does not create an equal opportunity or systems that people ruled by. The unqualified systems employed by government create instability in that countries therefore impose big threat.

2- Emad Alnajjar

Public Accountant  (Canada)

The real risk we face is the lack of knowledge among the people of different religion. I have lived in KSA, Jordan, USA, UK and Canada and I found out the more people know each other the more respect and loved spread. I have found people in the Arabic world heat American and western and I found western people share the same hate for us. When we know each other will find our selves share a lot of common good and the core ethics. Governments has to introducing people to each other to spread peace

1- Dr. Mohamed Muslim Al-Husaini

University Professor  (Belgium)

Fanaticism is the real threat not only to the Arabic and Islamic regions, but to the world as a whole. When political agenda of any authority does not consider the right of human being to exist and does not apply justice and fair treament in every aspect ,this will creat sense of disappointment and oppression. This will be followed by unhealthy reaction characterized by hatred, voilence, and terrorism. To solve this problem, the world should first look to the origin of the unjustice in Palestin.
