University Professor  (Belgium)

I do not really understand how the international community is in a position of standstill towards this matter!?.This problem touch the international interest and gives a bad image of the security in this region, but in every place in this planet.Staying without movement in front of this will encourage others in Somalia or other regions to do the same as far as there is no punishments and no follow up.This is another prove of lacking law and orders in our world that makes poeple feel un save!.

1- Farrukh Hameed Khan

Finance  (Pakistan)

When Somalia's civil war began, boats from other nations often used their waters for illegal fishing & dumping, something the Somalian saw as taking benefit of a nation in turmoil. To make their point, pirates generally held ships and their passengers for ransom. As it became a profitable business, warlords got involved. Somalia remains one of the world's poorest nations,so curruption level is high & high officials also get the cut of ransom.
